The Aurora Tower, Brisbane

Programmed is a competent and professional painting and building maintenance business, having key people with significant experience and knowledge of the painting of high-rise apartment buildings and external building refurbishments. I would have no hesitation in recommending Programmed for major painting projects and building refurbishments. We look forward to working with Programmed again in the future.

Customer Background
The Aurora Tower offers magnificent views across the city and river. Soaring at 67 storeys high, the Aurora Tower stands as the fourth largest in Brisbane and sixth most significant in the state. For guests and residents alike, the Aurora Tower provides a top-quality accommodation experience and maximum comfort, with all luxurious amenities; including an on-site swimming pool, jacuzzi and gym.
Project Description
The Aurora Tower is one of the largest projects Programmed has undertaken. The building required extensive painting and remedial works to uphold its prestigious image.
In addition to this, the elaborate stakeholder makeup meant this project would require a considerate and transparent communication approach. Key stakeholders included dwelling owners, the chairman committee, overseas investors, as well as the residents living in the 480 dwellings of the tower.
Project Solution
An exterior repaint was carried out for the entirety of the 67 storeys, which involved multiple coats of paint over the course of the project. To effectively and efficiently carry out this large-scale repaint, the Programmed team devised an execution plan involving a combination of rope, swing stage and internal access. Where some apartments only had front door access, Programmed ensured dwellings maintained their pristine condition by ensuring adequate protective floor coating. Communication and extensive reporting were crucial to keep all parties involved throughout.
In addition to the repaint, full remedial works were executed on the first five storeys of the building. This involved complete sheet replacement in addition to rust removal on the steel features of the complex. The revamp extended beyond the structural aspects of the building and also incorporated the facility’s parking area. Comprehensive line marking, safety and directional signage ensured pedestrian and driver safety during the time works were being undertaken.
To provide thorough and consistent communication, the Programmed team provided a clearly outlined schedule of the works that was accessible both online and in the building foyer. This visual display of information kept all the stakeholders updated on the works to be completed and their deadlines. Concurrently, the team facilitated a letterbox drop, which informed residents of balcony access timeframes. The consistent flow of information was very much welcomed. It reassured the stakeholders and elevated their confidence in Programmed while allowing the project to progress seamlessly.
Project Outcome
Programmed went the extra mile to ensure a stellar result for Aurora Towers that was extremely cost and time efficient. Through the completion of the works by Programmed, Aurora Towers has been able to heighten their presentation and increase their building’s appeal and value.
This monumental project required 8,000 litres of paint and over 16,000 hours of labour. Despite the large scope of work, this project was delivered exactly on time and well within budget, maximising stakeholder satisfaction.
